Temi di ricerca

L'attività di ricerca è rivolta principalmente al campo della mineralogia, in particolare ai minerali di sintesi con applicazioni tecnologiche ed alla caratterizzazione di minerali provenienti da scorie di inceneritori. Durante questi anni le tematiche affrontate riguardano:

Sintesi e caratterizzazione di silicati sintetici (pirosseni) con applicazione nell’industria dei pigmenti ceramici; studi sul comportamento cristallochimico e spettroscopico, sulle transizioni di fase, compresi i fenomeni di ordine-disordine intracristallino e sulle microstrutture nei minerali naturali e analoghi sintetici. Studi di caratterizzazione dei minerali fibrosi, polimorfi del serpentino, provenienti dalla Nuova Caledonia. Analisi di particolato atmosferico, in particolare alla componente minerale e magnetica. Caratterizzazione dei minerali e della parte amorfa delle scorie di termovalorizzatori.

Tali studi sono stati affrontati con un approccio multidisciplare attraverso diverse tecniche analitiche quali diffrazione raggi X da polveri e cristallo singolo (P-SC XRD), tecniche di indagine magnetiche, microscopio elettronico a scansione e trasmissione (SEM, TEM), Spettroscopie Raman, IR, UV-VIS, analisi colorimetriche (CIELAB), Sintesi di minerali (stato solido, fusione, sistemi HT/HP).
