Linee di Ricerca

Le principali linee di ricerca sviluppate nel corso degli anni nel Laboratorio di Genomica Animale, riguardano la caratterizzazione di taxa vertebrati per la risoluzione di problematiche nell'ambito della sistematica, della filogenesi, della genetica di popolazione e della genetica della conservazione di specie minacciate. Gli approcci metodologici applicati nel campo della genetica molecolare e della genomica sono basati su tecniche di amplificazione di PCR, elettroforesi capillare e sequenziamento massivo parallelo (NGS). Ulteriori linee di ricerca riguardano la diagnosi molecolare di sindromi pediatriche e comportamentali, con particolare riferimento allo studio di geni coinvolti nel metabolismo di neurotrasmettitori (dopamina e serotonina).

Research Topics

The main research topics developed in the Animal Genomics Lab concern the genetic characterization of vertebrate taxa for the resolution of issues in the fields of systematics, phylogeny, population genetics, and genetics of conservation of endangered species. Methodological approaches are based on genetic and genomic techniques based on PCR amplification, capillary electrophoresis and next generation sequencing. Additional research topics are related to the molecular characterization of pediatric and behavioral syndromes, with particular attention to the involvement of genes regulating the metabolism of neurotransmitters (dopamine and serotonin).
